Bed and Breakfast Formula             

The  Lakes of Northen Italy and Milan                            Minimum Stay 7 days

Starting  December  2008 I can place at my client’s disposal an apartment in a country house on the  hills above the Maggiore Lake. The apartment is located in the suburbs of Meina (Ghevio neighbourhood) few miles (15 minutes by car) from the beautiful city of  Stresa with its gorgeous Borromeo Islands and 45 minutes by car from Milano Malpensa International Airport.

The apartment is not a luxury (elegant) one  but it is comfortable and I think homelike. It consists of a living room with kitchen, two large en suite rooms and one single room. The apartment can accommodate easily  four persons and less comfortably  five persons. There is also a nice garden where in the warmer season  you can lie in the sun if you like.

My Services will include Accommodation, Breakfast,  Transport and Guide service. Further if some days we are tired from too many hours spent touring  you/we can cook some spaghetti for all, since the apartment  is provided with a kitchen.

 All this will be at very competitive prices.

With this formula the Basic Itinerary could be :

To refresh your school day memories I would like to recall  that English/French/ American poets and writers  have written about the beauty of these Lakes: Among them   Shelley the famous romantic English poet who, in describing the Como Lake said  : “This lake exceeds anything I ever be-held in beauty”   Other writers like Stendhal, Dickens, Byron and Hemingway (in “A farewell to arms”) described the beauty of the Maggiore Lake.  

Day one: Arrival; I will be at the Airport (Milan Malpensa or Milan Linate or Bergamo Orio al Serio or Turin Caselle). Transfer to Meina.  Some rest

Day two: Drive around the Maggiore Lake and a visit to some of its  villages like Stresa, or a trip to the Borromeo Islands with their gorgeous Palace and Gardens and the characteristic “Fisherman Village” (Isola dei Pescatori)

Day three: Meina – Milan (50 minutes by car) visit the Cathedral (Duomo), The Castle, The Last Supper by Leonardo da Vinci, The Scala, The Fashion District

Day four: Vigevano: The Ducal Square and The Bramante Tower   (A – see note below)

Day five : Leisure time or else a drive around the Lake or tour of Orta Lake or if you are not tired we can visit the Swiss arm of the Lake with such beautiful cities as  Locarno and Bellinzona- (A – see note below)

Day six : Como Lakes  ; Sightseeing around the lake by boat or van looking the beautiful villas ( George Clooney has one) and villages like Bellagio with Villa Serbelloni owned by the Rockefeller Foundation and Tremezzo with its magnificent Villa del Balbianello

Day seven : Transfer to airport or other place you desire

NOTE   A :  If you desire to make a one day trip to Venice and/or   to  Florence I can organize for you . Both these beautiful unique cities are  three hours train trip ( Fast Train Eurostar) from Milan . This will be an Extra and when you  contact me I will give you all the details , (timetable. prices etc…)- The same  for a one day trip to the gorgeous Cinqueterre – Liguria Region ( www.cinqueterre.it).

Cost

Taking into consideration the Basic Itinerary  below you will  find the cost per person per week

Two persons.  Euros 315 per person per week in a Double en suite room             Very Comfortable

Three persons.  As per above. You can use the two large rooms or stay in the same room           “      

Four persons.  Euros 280 per person per week in a Double en suite room              Very Comfortable

Five Persons   Tbd. ( to be decided)

The price per person is based on  double occupancy for seven days . You can verify that a  package tour like this one will cost three/four times my offer ( depends on the tour operator and the type of hotel)
